Excellent point by a recent grad...our students are NOT properly formed while in college...the liberal slant happens even in Catholic colleges!
“Notre Dame students generally come from conservative backgrounds,” said Mike Laskey, a recent Notre Dame graduate who wrote on the subject of ideological shifts among the student body in his position as executive director of Scholastic, Notre Dame’s campus magazine. “A good college education anywhere introduces new ways of looking at the world and shakes up students' perspectives. Because students come in conservative but not strongly formed, it makes sense that many experience an ideological shift to the left.”
On the Notre Dame website the President of the university is quoted as saying, "we also foster and celebrate a distinctive mission to be a Catholic university, inspired and guided by a great spiritual tradition." I guess we can truly say that Notre Dame is NOT living up to their mission. Unless the spiritual tradition that they are referring to is NOT the Holy Spirit but some other type of bogus "spirituality." Very disappointed in Notre Dame; what a slap in the face to the Blessed Mother.
"...a shift to the left" Ummm...I really don't like that school anymore. YOU ARE CATHOLIC! Oh my gosh so many "Catholic" colleges are Cafeteria Catholics. I can't take it. I mean it doesn't surprise me because there are like what 5 real Catholic colleges out there???
Many knowledgeable people in Catholic eduation realize that Notre dame is not an authentic, devout Catholic university. We now have national media proof. Although it has a rich and wonderful history, the Univeristy of Notre Dame has shown is hiprocracy by shunning their Catholic faith with this action. Just as Rudy Guiliani, Nancy Pelosi, Tom Ridge, John Kerry, and Joe Biden are not truly Roman Catholic, the same applies with Notre Dame. It is a grave and serious sin to honor President Obama with a law degree in this way. It is also a disgrace to call Notre Dame a Catholic University. Father Jenkins, you are a disobdient hippocrite! You make Christ sweat tears of blood! You shame devout Catholic students and alumni who want Notre Dame to be the authentic Catholic University it was founded to be.
