Obama Wins Nobel Peace Prize

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/eu_nobel_peace

For what? He has grown the war in Afghanistan, continued the war in Iraq, kept Guantanamo Bay... He has accomplished nothing. This is a slap in the face to everyone who has actually won the peace prize by doing something. Check out Desmond Tutu's response: "Obama's award shows great things are expected from him in coming years." Um... you get an award for doing great things, not being expected to do great things. If expectation is all you need - every elected politician should get one. The Norwegian Nobel Committee Chairman Thorbjoern Jagland said "Only very rarely has a person to the same extent as Obama captured the world's attention and given its people hope for a better future." I guess they bought the "Hope" and "Change" campaign in Norway too. Advertising at it's very best... globally.

The decision was "designed to encourage his initiatives to reduce nuclear arms, ease tensions with the Muslim world and stress diplomacy and cooperation rather than unilateralism."

So let me get this straight. All a guy has to do is SAY he wants peace to get the prize? His campaign initiatives were the deciding factor!

The article says it all: "U.S. remains at war in Iraq and Afghanistan, the U.S. Congress has yet to pass a law reducing carbon emissions and there has been little significant reduction in global nuclear stockpiles since Obama took office."

Lets take a look at people who have done something to increase peace, but never received a Nobel:
Ronald Reagan
John Paul II
Mahatma Ghandi

What do they have in common - conservative moral leanings. The Nobel Prize has officially become the Academy Awards.
